Letter from the Secretary General

Dear Distinguished Delegates, and Honored Guests,

It is with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility that I extend this invitation to you on behalf of the OISMUN team for the 18th Annual Oasis International School Model United Nations Conference . This landmark event will take place in October 2025 at the esteemed campus of Oasis International School, Cairo, Egypt, where young leaders from across the globe will gather to engage in transformative dialogue and diplomacy.

Since its inception, OISMUN has stood as a pioneer in the Model UN community, distinguished as Egypt’s first bilingual English-French conference and an affiliated partner of The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN). Our commitment to sustainability and global citizenship has further solidified our reputation as Egypt’s first eco-friendly MUN conference, a legacy proudly upheld through our ongoing collaboration with MUN Impact. In 2023, we expanded our reach by partnering with Shabab El Balad, an initiative under the United Nations, to empower youth engagement in sustainable development and civic leadership : a testament to our dedication to creating real-world impact beyond committee rooms.

This year’s conference theme, “Reimagine international diplomacy by confronting the challenges of technological disruption, economic disparity, and forced migration through inclusive and innovative global governance” calls upon delegates to confront the most pressing challenges of our time . escalating geopolitical tensions, the erosion of international legal frameworks, and the urgent need for disarmament in an increasingly volatile world. In this critical moment, diplomacy is not merely an academic exercise but a vital tool for shaping a more just and secure future.

OISMUN 18 will feature ten dynamic committees, including two innovative additions designed to reflect the evolving demands of global governance. The International Criminal Court (ICC) will challenge delegates to grapple with the intricacies of contemporary international criminal law, from prosecuting crimes against humanity and war crimes to addressing the ethical dilemmas raised by evolving global challenges Meanwhile, the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) will tackle the urgent issues of arms proliferation, cyber warfare, and collective security in an era of unprecedented instability.

Our English-language committees include the international court of justice , the United Nations General Assembly , the Security Council , the Human Rights Council , the Economic and Social Council, the commission on the status of women , the united nations office on drugs and crime , The Sustainable Development Commission , alongside our newest additions, the ICC and DISEC. We also offer 2 french committees Le Conseil de Sécurité, Le Conseil des Droits de l’Homme.  Recognizing that the leaders of tomorrow must be nurtured today, we also proudly host three Junior Committees : the General Assembly Junior , the security council junior , and Le Conseil de droit de l’homme Junior ; tailored for delegates aged 11 to 13, providing them with a platform to develop their voices in international discourse

Participating in OISMUN 18 is more than an academic exercise; it is an opportunity to hone essential skills in negotiation, public speaking, and critical thinking while engaging with a diverse community of peers and mentors. Our conference is designed to inspire, challenge, and equip you with the tools to become an agent of change in an interconnected world.
